Boudoir -
A woman's private sitting room, dressing room, or bedroom.
Cashmere -
Fine, downy wool growing beneath the outer hair of the Cashmere goat.
Ermine -
A weasel of northern regions, having a black-tipped tail and dark brown fur that in winter changes to white.
Flocked -
To texture or pattern with pulverized wool or felt. An inferior grade of wool added to cloth for extra weight.
Flange -
A protruding rim, edge, rib, or collar used to strengthen an object, hold it in place, or attach it to another object.
Georgette -
A sheer, strong silk or silklike clothing fabric with a dull, creped surface.
Intarsia -
A knitted design resembling a mosaic that is visible on both sides of a fabric.
Jabot -
An ornamental cascade of ruffles or frills down the front of a shirt, blouse, or dress.
L'agneau -
This is the word for lamb in the French language.
Lapis -
A color that may range from billiant, to medium royal, to dark blue. It is based on the color of the lapis lazuli gem stone.
Ombre -
Design that has graduations in color, usually it is shades of one family of color or can change colors, such as from green to blue.
Peplum -
A short overskirt or ruffle attached at the waistline of a jacket, blouse, or dress.
Slub -
A slightly twisted roll of fiber, as of silk or cotton. A soft thick nub in yarn that is either an imperfection or purposely set for a desired effect.
Tencel -
Tencel® is the trade name for a new fiber called lyocell. Like rayon, Tencel® is made from the wood pulp found in trees harvested for this purpose, although it uses a more costly manufacturing process. Tencel® is breathable, has a beautiful luster, soft drape and is comfortable to wear. It accepts and retains dyes better than rayon and is more absorbent than cotton. It's also a very strong fiber, which means a longer lasting garment. It resists shrinking and usually can be machine-washed and tumble-dried.
Viscose -
A thick, golden-brown viscous solution of cellulose xanthate, used in the manufacture of rayon and cellophane. In reference to Viscose rayon.
Wisteria -
Any of several climbing woody vines of the genus Wisteria in the pea family, having pinnately compound leaves and drooping racemes of showy purplish or white flowers.
Zaldy -
New York City Designer who lives in landmark Chelsea Hotel. Was LAMB's head designer from Spring 04 to Fall 07.
